Paulie's book happened by mistake. His book project evolved into something much bigger. At first, bringing awareness to the rewards of adopting senior shelter dogs was my main focus. Paulie was eight years old when we adopted him in 2014. He was introduced on social media on 11/4/14 and he became a big hit.
Paulie and I participated in fundraisers to help other senior shelter dogs. The shelter community adored him. His page brought in many followers and it ended in 2021 right before he passed.
During this time, I had written a poem called, "Paulie's Journey". Blogs followed than I was asked by his followers to write a children's book about his adoption. It wasn't until January 1, 2023 that I started writing his book. I finished in one week.
At the same time, our local shelter was experiencing an influx of strays. Something needed to be done so in my special book I included two pages of suggestions to help pet owners keep their pets from becoming a stray. Many pets aren't microchipped or the chip isn't updated. No other children's book offer this unique feature. Feel free to read more about Paulie and his book. I would love to hear what you think!
