Thank you for visiting my site!
On November 3, 2014, my family and I adopted a senior, shelter dog named Paulie when he was eight years old. Senior dogs take longer to adopt so Paulie and I started participating in fundraisers to help get seniors adopted faster. Our first fundraiser helped 34 dogs. We continued doing our fundraiser mission until his passing in 2021. Paulie was the poster dog at his vet's office and was well known in the shelter community. He set the bar in bringing awareness to the senior shelter dogs. I'm now carrying on his mission and legacy.
In January of 2023 I started writing a children's book titled, "Paulie Finds His Forever Home" as a tribute to beloved Paulie. This was based off one of many blogs that I wrote after he passed. The blogs journaled the adventures we went on. This book takes the young reader on a senior dog’s fascinating journey in finding his forever home. Also, it gives the young reader an inside view through Paulie's eye on his adoption journey and inside the shelter environment. To make this book into an educational tool for the guardian(s) of the young reader, I added two suggestion sheets on how to keep pets from becoming a stray. After the pandemic, countless number of pets were ending up in shelters. I wanted to be part of the solution so these suggestions were added to the book. After doing much research, my book is unique because I couldn't find anything like this in other children's books.
I hope my book will inspire young readers by getting involved in helping the shelter animals. There's a tab at the top with suggestions on how to get started. Nowadays, there are more shelter animals than families. It doesn't need to be this way. By getting involved, finding a home for all pets is achievable. We will get there, however, we need more advocates.
Again, thank you for being here. I appreciate you!
