On 3/25/24, I attended a training class for fosters. Even though I was an approved foster, I. thought it would be interesting to see what the class was about. The class ran from 10:00am to noon and there was 45 attendees. It was being hosted by www.asoundsbeginningprogram.com.

Back in 2014 when we adopted Paulie, we were handed the book and cd. Since this was new territory for us with a dog, I put the book away. Now, I wish I never did that. The instructor walked us through the program and many do's and don'ts when bringing home a shelter dog. Of course, my husband and I learned the hard way and made mistakes along the way. Had I used this training book, how we handled Paulie might of been better. Going through the class made reading the book more seamless. After class, I asked the instructor when the training classes came into play. She told me the program started in 2014 and actual face to face training classes not until 2015. I didn't recall seeing these classes being advertise on social media back then. I think they are now more visible because of all the stray dogs that are coming into the shelter and rescues. Two of our rescues now have training class facilities and most recommend this course.
